Why Electrical Preventative Maintenance is Important

Every homeowner should make sure to regularly maintain his or her electrical outlets, switches and receptacles. Making sure of all aspects of your home’s electricity can keep your house safe and running efficiently.  To effectively conduct preventative maintenance, some simple things to check on include:

  • Switches: Do you hear any sizzling? If there are any unusual pops or sizzles when you turn lights on and off, call your electrician to check it out.
  • Outdoor outlets: Make sure that gasket covers are in good condition and functioning properly.
  • Receptacles: Are there any loose connections?  Make sure any cords fit into outlets securely.
  • Panel connections: Check these periodically.
